After students have completed their first year at university they often move out of the university halls to move into rented accommodation with a group of friends. Over the long summer break they often move back home for a few months before embarking on their second year. They will find that they will have to move their possessions out of the university halls around the end of June of July and usually they won’t start up again until the end of September or beginning of October. During this time they will need to store their items until they can move into their new rented accommodation.
Storage units are ideal for this period of time as they provide a safe and secure environment for your personal possessions. It is a cost-effective solution too, instead of starting up their contract with their new landlord in July, they can put their possessions into storage which works out much cheaper – they can then move into their new house once the summer is over.
Many storage companies offer a collection and delivery service so that the student doesn’t have to worry about transporting their possessions to and from the storage unit. Some even offer a packing service – although it is likely that the student will only have a room to pack up so will only need a few boxes.

When looking for a storage company make sure that the one you choose is reputable and that they have suitable security. Ideally they should have 24hour CCTV surveillance so that your possessions are under constant supervision.
Once the summer holidays are over and the students move into their new accommodation they can then arrange for their possessions to be delivered to their new address – or if you do have your own transport you should be able to pick up your items free of charge.
So rather than having to pay rent for your new accommodation as soon as you break up for the summer holidays – storage containers provide a cheaper and more convenient solution.
