Being stuck for ideas as an article marketer is never fun. Just continuing to sit there will not make a difference. So here are 5 different, somewhat unique ways to spark your imagination using your senses.
1)Listen as you walk, be it in the office or as you commute in public transportation. People talk about everything and lots of people talk about their problems. Perform a little market research, listen and make a note of what you hear as you travel. My example that I always encounter is that I always hear mothers talking about solving daycare issues for their children.
2)Record what you see. You always, especially in bigger cities, see something unique or different. You may notice something that is the ending or better yet the start of a trend. Is what you see something that others will be interested in? Think it though, apply some imagination and you may have unique angle. Remember when skate boarding started and everyone thought it was strange device. If you ever met a true skateboarder they are different and very interesting. Hence a built in unique nitch to market to.
3)What smells good today? As you walk and talk, you encounter tons of smells. Does any one of them ring a bell from a child hood memory? Or does the smelltrigger a thought about the last great event you attended. Is it something that can be summarized and focused to a target market? All you need is a quick article or blog posts to attract the right people. If its cabbage from a restaurant or the smell of fresh baked doanut from a bakery, the memories may start there.
4)Ever touch something and it gives you the chills or as some say you get that icky feeling. You may want to investigate why it is so icky. Yes some people describe icky in 400 words. And yes someone out there understands you. How is that we say ugh and cringe when we see the internals of an animal or something that we can’t make out what it is. We have never touched it but we think we did. That sighting, that translates to a touch that translates to a feel becomes your subject to write about.
5)Now taste is interesting because unless you are a food critic or a chef this one is hard in general to write about. But ever hear a true food fanatic describe food. For a fanatc, a chef or a food critic you are writing for your target market and ideas should flow. And now let us think of those who watch TV because if you love the food network, then writing an article from a taste sensation will be a I hate to say it, a piece of cake.
Remember your senses are your radar in finding great ideas. Write all the reactions from your sense into a journal and keep it with you for future reference.
